Specifications include, but are not limited to: For Colorado newborns, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Laboratory Services Division’s (LSD) Newborn Screening Program (NBS) is charged with conducting newborn screenings to identify disorders in the screening panel. At present, there are four conditions on the national Recommended Uniform Screening Panel (RUSP), which are not yet on the Colorado Program’s panel: Pompe Disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS-1) and X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD). In this document, these four conditions will be referred to collectively as the new disorders. The purpose of this project is to identify vendors capable of providing follow-up services for any or all of the new disorders, relative to the requirements detailed in Sections E through G. in the form of any or all of the following capabilities: 1) Initial consultation for families and primary care providers of newborns who screen at risk for a new disorder, 2) confirmatory testing, 3) genetic counseling and/or, 4) disorder-specific other follow-up services not already listed above, if any (to be described and justified in detail by the respondent vendor for a disorder it pertains to).
