Colorado State University San Luis Valley Research Center (SLVRC) requests firm pricing for a new Zimmatic center pivot sprinkler irrigation system per the below specifications. This new system is being modeled in part after the new systems located at the Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center (ARDEC). ARDEC is part of a network of eight (8) research centers throughout the State of Colorado and the SLVRC is one of those sites.
This system will be located at the SLVRC; 249 East Rd 9 North, Center, CO. This system will replace an existing center pivot irrigation system installed in 1983. The irrigated acreage covered by this center pivot supports irrigated field research projects, the potato breeding and selection program, the San Luis Valley Research Center’s seed potato production and for-profit rotational crops meant to contribute to the SLVRC’s operating accounts. Historical irrigated acreage of the center pivot was 111acres.
It is vital that the project be completed before the 2020 cropping season, as the SLVRC operating budget depends upon revenue from crops grown on the fields in question. Furthermore, decisions related to field space allocation are typically made in February. To minimize the wheel track crossover within those plots, having the system in place before 2020 will enable us to best prioritize land space.
