A new project for the Aurora Public School AWARE team gives students the perfect online platform to showcase their resilience. APS launched its new student storytelling website, called A Story, in early November. The site features stories from refugee students across the district through the production of short videos.
Former Aurora poet laureate Jovan Mays developed A Story. The district, with Jovan’s support, is creating a platform that empowers student voice. The project will also work to increase mental health awareness among APS students and reduce the stigma to the Aurora community.
The A Story project videographer will be responsible for planning, filming, storyboarding, editing and release of the final video products.
