The Lefthand Watershed Oversight Group has been awarded a grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Watershed Resilience Pilot Program for the restoration of Left Hand Creek at several locations along Left Hand Canyon Road. This grant has been awarded to complete as much design and creek restoration as possible with the funding set forth, and within the established time frames and including all permit fees. The nine sites included in this project are primarily road interfacing canyon areas that sustained significant damage and all were addressed in the 2014 Left Hand Creek Master Plan. While road reconstruction work and a small amount of river restoration work was completed this past year by Central Federal Lands and Boulder County in Left Hand Canyon, there are numerous sites still in need of stream restoration work to reduce risk to human life, natural systems, and infrastructure.
