6728-17 - Justice Center Asbestos Abatement

1. Boulder County Building Services Division is seeking proposal to abate asbestos containing
materials, primarily block surface filler from masonry walls at the Boulder County Justice Center
located at 1777 6th Street, at, Boulder, CO 80302.

2. Summary of Work:
a. The work specified herein is in preparation for the demolition of a portion of an
occupied building and shall include but not be limited to the be the preparation of
a project design, obtaining necessary permits, for the removal of asbestos
containing materials by persons who are knowledgeable, qualified, trained and
certified in the State of Colorado in the removal, treatment, handling, and disposal
of asbestos-containing material, and the subsequent cleaning of the affected
environment. These persons must comply with Federal, State and local
regulations which mandate work practices, and be capable of performing the work
of this contract.
b. The contractor will supply all labor, materials, equipment, services, insurance and
incidentals which are necessary or required to perform the work in accordance
with the applicable governmental regulations and these specifications.
c. Schedule – Work is to be completed 10 weeks after Notice and Permit received
from the State of Colorado. Failure to complete project in that time frame will
result in $1,000 per day Liquidated Damages.
d. The estimated surface area of block surface filler on masonry walls is as follows.
This does not include all ACBM quantities to be removed on project only the
surface area of block walls. The contractor is to verify quantities.
i. Exterior Courtyard – 6,700 SF
ii. Interior – 19,300 SF
  
3. ContractAward:
a. Boulder County is seeking a contractor who is very experienced in successfully
completing projects that required the removal of asbestos containing block surface
filler. Therefore the qualifications, references and examples of past performance
provided by the contractor will be a significant determinant of who will be
selected for award. Provide a written qualification and organizational report as
described in the specifications for evaluation with the RFP.
