RFP-LV-148716 - Homestake Dam Mastic Coating

HOMESTAKE replaced the outer layer of hydraulic asphalt in this area in 2013 and applied a mastic coating over the barrier asphalt in 2014. The anticipated life of the mastic coating was approximately 7 years.  However, the actual life between the operating elevations listed above has been less because of the effects of UV exposure, ice and debris.  It is anticipated that the mastic in this area will need to be re-coated every two to three years. The duration of this contract will be three (3) years from the Notice to Proceed year.  The cost provided with this proposal will be for this year’s mastic application starting August 26, 2019.  The timing of future coatings will depend on how well the most recent application performs, but it is anticipated that one (1) additional coating will be completed within this three (3) year period. Future year applications could start anywhere between the months of June and October, and will be dependent on dam operational needs.
