The Family Treatment Drug Court Program (FTDC) provides intensive in-home child protection services to families with young children, with at least one child being aged birth to 12 years, who have come to the attention of the Department as a result of an abuse and/or neglect complaint with the primary concern of parental substance abuse. The goal is to prevent out-of-home placement or quickly transition children from out-of-home care safely back into their homes.
FTDC is a program designed to strengthen parental competency and protective capacity. It promotes family independence by teaching families parenting skills and techniques such as feeding, bathing, child safety, non-physical discipline, calming, identifying available child care service options, recognizing child developmental stages, problem solving, anger management, conflict resolution, household management, home cleaning, and how to access community resources and support systems, etc. For families who have a child placed out of the home, hands on parenting one (1) hour a week shall be provided to assess how parenting education is being applied.
The Department anticipates a monthly client participation rate of fifty-five (55) individuals, however the
Department does not guarantee any minimum or maximum amount of referrals to the FTDC Program.
