6830-18 - Annual Vegetation Monitoring and Mapping Services

BACKGROUND:
 
Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) is seeking qualifications from consulting firms for upcoming vegetation monitoring and vegetation mapping services for the 2018 calendar year and which may occur in subsequent years. The primary intention of this SOQ is to gather information from consulting firms to build a list of contractors who have the capacity and experience to bid on additional continuing services contractual work. All specific projects for 2018 and beyond will be sent out to the selected continuing services contractors by the County’s informal bid process. Each contractor on the list will have the opportunity to bid on the individual projects.
 
Consulting firms must have experience in completing Line Point Intercept vegetation monitoring, and
vegetation mapping using the United States National Vegetation Classification System (USNVC). Qualifying firms must have the ability to identify species to specific epithet, including from the basal portion or form of the plants. The vegetation mapping requires identification of plant communities to the alliance level and field verification of the designation. The vegetation mapping requires a minimum mapping unit of 1/4th acre for upland areas and 1/10th of an acre for wetlands. The vegetation mapping also requires identification of the dominant species by structural level, including: tree, shrub, sub-shrub and gram/forb. All field data for both the monitoring and mapping must be submitted to the County along with final reports and final GIS data.
