The Boulder Public Library Main Library branch facilities are located at 1001 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80302. The North building is a 25,600 sq. ft two-story structure which includes offices, TV studio, performing arts theater and art gallery spaces. The South building is a 72,000 two-story structure (plus basement) which houses traditional library spaces, including offices and meeting rooms. The two buildings are connected by an enclosed bridge structure which spans Boulder Creek.
Both buildings currently utilize Siemens Insight controls on an N2 network for the HVAC system controls, which includes a mix of direct digital control (DDC) and pneumatic control devices. This project will replace the existing building automation system with a Niagara N4 based system utilizing the BACNet communication protocol. Pneumatic devices will be replaced with electric actuators. Additional devices will be replaced as needed to accommodate the controls conversion to BACnet. The project will also include electrical and mechanical work to support the controls upgrades, as well as test and balance of the Main Library HVAC systems.
The master Insight controller serving the Main Library also serves the city’s Reynolds Branch Library. Reynolds is a 10,000 sq. ft. single-story (plus basement) building with is located at 3595 Table Mesa Dr., Boulder, CO 80305. This project will also include either A) reconfiguring the existing controls as needed to maintain operation of the Insight control system, or B) upgrading the building automation controls to the new Niagara N4 system selected for use at the Main Library.
