18-036 - Construction of the Golden Lane Road Bridge Replacement

El Paso County proposes to replace the existing 37’-6” steel/timber bridge that spans over Fountain Creek connecting Golden Lane Road to the Fountain Creek RV Park with twin concrete box culverts. The existing bridge was originally built in 1950 and has a roadway width of only 17’ thus facilitating motor vehicle traffic in only one direction at a time while offering no protection for pedestrians or bicyclists attempting to cross Fountain Creek. The existing bridge is classified as both structurally insufficient and functionally obsolete, receiving a sufficiency rating of 46.4 in 2012. The Golden Lane Bridge serves as the only entrance to the Fountain Creek RV Park and also as an egress point to the Midland Trail.
