Summary of Specifications:
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is interested in mitigating the risk of catastrophic wildfire to residents and neighbors of the Kissing Camels Property Owners Association. The intent is to reduce fuel loading and modify fuel structure by limbing, thinning and removal of live, dead and diseased standing vegetation. It is also the intent to modify, reduce and chip any dead and down woody debris. Removal will include live, dying, dead and downed trees. The total project area is APPROXIMATELY 86.5 ACRES (Unit 1 = ~ 51.08 ac., UNIT 2 = ~35.33 ac) Vegetation consists of Gambel oak and open grassy areas. (No mowing – woody material only.) Contractors shall prepare a lump sum bid for the treatment units. Contractors may bid on any / all units. Colorado Springs Fire Department will consider different treatment options including hand thinning, mastication or a combination of either treatment. A map outlining the management area, treatment units and acreage will be provided by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
