The City of Aspen Community Development Department is seeking professional planning services by a consultant or consultant team (referred to herein as Vendor). The final product will be used in the review of the Lift 1 base area redevelopment.
The consultant or consultant team is to research the Lift 1 and supplement or expand upon the existing historic information on file with the Aspen Community Development Department. Research will focus on the local, regional, and national historic context of the lift. Resources consulted will include primary and secondary source materials from the City of Aspen, Aspen Historical Society, Denver Public Library, History Colorado, Prospector interlibrary service to access libraries throughout Colorado, historic maps and photographs, newspapers, and other resources as available. A concise, well researched and illustrated white paper describing the history of the Lift 1 and a statement of its significance throughout the United States, noting other ski infrastructure of that era that remain in place, and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation are to be produced. The Vendor will identify photos to be used in the presentation and report that should be sourced from the Aspen Historical Society, and the City will acquire high resolution images and the rights to use them. The images will then be provided to the Vendor for the work products. The Vendor will present the paper to City Council, tentatively scheduled for a work session on May 7, 2018.
