The Aurora Public Schools is looking for a provider to work with small groups of immigrant and refugee children and youth either in-person, virtually, or both, over the course of 10-12 weeks during the school year of 2020-2021. The provider would engage in activities to support the social-emotional development and wellbeing of the students, as well as the adjustment into a new school community. Topics that the provider would explore with the students include but are not limited to culture and cultural identity, process of migration, adjustment and integration into a new community, trust relationships and healthy friendships. The work may take place at elementary, middle school or high school level. We are looking for a provider experienced working with the immigrant and refugee children and youth within mental health and integration and who is able to work with multilingual students that are not completely proficient in English. The provider should be able to run the program in 5 different schools selected in collaboration with the APS Welcome Center.
