Specifications include, but are not limited to: All grass areas shall be mowed utilizing the proper sized mowing equipment in a manner which does not cause damage by scalping, rutting, excessive tire tracking, etc. Mowers should be operated according to the manufacturers’ recommended speed for efficient mowing. No mower shall be operated in a manner that the speed should cause mower deck bouncing, resulting in turf “scalp” or breaking of irrigation heads, valves, valve boxes, etc. Operators shall be expected to modify their speed to accommodate any rough terrain. The intent of the mowing task is mowing quality verses speed and unprofessional patterns. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for all equipment and damages to said equipment and labor to fix or rescue equipment. Trimming shall be performed at the same time as mowing with each mowing cycle using nylon cord trimming equipment in areas inaccessible for mowing equipment termed a “routine work.” This includes selective turf perimeter near walls, fence lines, monuments, benches, fixed trashcans, barbeques, back stops, play areas and all above ground infrastructure, under bleachers (if they cannot be moved), next to buildings where established plantings are not present, and around all other obstacles so that a neat, even appearance to the total turf area is achieved. The use of trimmers is not acceptable for the “mowing” of turf and for edging hard surface such as turf perimeter along and around concrete walks, slabs, curbs; these items shall be trim with a rotary blade vertical edger.
