Specifications include, but are not limited to: Services include: Investment Services Mortuary Services Property Disposal/Cleanout Services Real Estate Broker Services Tax Preparation/Certified Public Accountant Services The Public Guardian/Public Administrator (PG/PA) is responsible for: • Taking prompt possession and control of property of a decedent or conservatee in the county that is deemed to be subject to loss, injury, waste or misappropriation; • Locating all assets and sources of income; • Arranging for the storage, sale and/or disposal of real and personal property through sale, public auction or disbursement to relatives, as appropriate. • Conducting physical searches of residences; • Searching safe deposit boxes for important documents and valuables; • Marshalling and collecting assets of conservatee/decedent; • Managing real estate; • Applying for and collecting income; • Reviewing and approving for payment monthly and/or periodic bills; • Removing from residence items for safe-keeping; • Buying or selling stocks, bonds annuities and other investments; • Locating and managing all assets, monitors creditor claims; • Reviewing tax filing requirements with accountants and filing tax returns; and, • Working with social workers and other professionals to determine the appropriate level of care for a conservatee.
