Specifications include, but are not limited to: The general objective of the project is to replace the existing bridge with an acceptable bridge design per local, state, and federal design criteria, in accordance with the Caltrans LAPM. The existing 2-span bridge is located in a residential/rural area of the County with five (5) local schools in the vicinity. The existing bridge is in poor condition and is listed as structurally deficient. The extensive delaminating concrete deck slab needs to be replaced and widened for better traffic flow, shoulders for bike lanes including sidewalks on both sides of the replacement bridge to benefit students from any of the local schools that will utilize these features. An existing timber pedestrian bridge south of the bridge replacement will be salvaged due to the widening of the replacement. There will also be a need for scour countermeasures at the abutments. The existing bent consists of five (5) RC extended piles that do not meet current seismic design standards and must be brought up to standards or eliminated by a clear span alternative.
