Specifications include, but are not limited to: a) Conduct random high visibility patrols (both foot patrols and vehicle patrols), visual checks on buildings, including all sides and enclosed fence areas. Parking lots are a lesser patrol priority. b) Contact persons loitering and sleeping on the property, and ask the violators (including irate, hostile, under the influence, or mental illness) to leave the property and not return, in order to gain compliance. Offenders shall be identified to discourage repeat problems and if violators do not leave call SURCOM so the appropriate authorities can assist. c) Contact SURCOM (State Parks 24 hour Dispatch) for assistance from local authorities, in the event of a potential or real conflict, disturbance, fire or emergency. d) Identify, report, and/or secure any exterior doors not properly secured. If the situation is of a suspicious nature, the appropriate Department personnel and San Diego Police law enforcement agencies should be notified through SURCOM.
