Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City desires to perform pro-active seismic improvement work to Fire Station 50 so the Fire Station and garage bay doors and all necessary emergency equipment/operations can continue functioning during and after an earthquake. There has not been any structural damage to the Station that the City is aware of, nor have there been periods of time the Station had to be placed out of commission. However, to limit the possibility of emergency services being affected by an earthquake event the City is seeking to upgrade the structural performance of the building. The City did hire a structural engineer to perform Tiers 1, 2 and 3 structural evaluations of the building, attached hereto as Exhibit “B.” The City is seeking to have the design work and construction drawings for the recommended seismic upgrade work identified in the Tiers 1, 2 and 3 evaluations completed by a competent, experienced and professional firm. It is the City’s intention to have a design professional provide a complete set of architectural and structural plans to address the deficiencies noted in the attached seismic evaluations. Said architectural and structural plans must be comprehensive enough for construction firms to bid and construct from with all necessary schedules and details. In addition to seismic upgrade work the City desires to upgrade ADA infrastructure as required by code when a building undergoes improvements, replace the existing roof and improve the ability to regulate temperatures within the garage/apparatus bay area.
