Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Fire Rescue Air Operations Phase 2 project is located on the Northwest end of Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, adjacent to the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), in Kearny Mesa. This project will provide a much-needed permanent facility for the San Diego Fire Department’s Air Rescue crew and fleet.1.2 Design and construction of prefabricated metal hangar buildings to provide new hangar space (approx. 32,000 SF) and a concrete apron (approx. 65,000 SF) to accommodate five helicopters, parking and shelter for a single Heli-tender and two fueling tender vehicle. The new hangar space will include a hangar support area for maintenance offices, over-haul, avionics and storage rooms. In addition, associated utility (Sewer, Stormwater, Gas, Water, Power, etc.) design and relocations will be included and the existing access road will be repaired due to utility trenching and constructions operations. This project will also include construction of a habitat mitigation site to compensate for impacts to environmental resources. The mitigation site is located in Otay, south of San Ysidro High School, on City owned land. The contractor will be responsible for construction of the mitigation site and 5-years of maintenance and monitoring. The mitigation site will restore and re-establish vernalpool habitat and species.
