Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Long Beach Water Department (LBWD) is seeking the services of a professional engineering consultant (CONSULTANT) to provide engineering design services for the replacement of the filter gallery valves. Located within LBWD’s Groundwater Treatment Plant, the existing filter gallery valves and actuators require a thorough assessment of existing conditions and ether replacement/ or rehabilitation of valves and actuators.Located within the Treatment Plant are a total of ten (10) filters, used in the processing of groundwater. Each filter is equipped with Seven (7) Butterfly valves, ranging from thirty-six inch (36”) to twelve inch (12”) valves . Four (4) on the effluent side and three (3) on the influent side. This system of valves allows the Treatment Plant to consistently produce potable water on a daily basis. The selected Consultant will be required to assess the current conditions of the valves and actuators currently in use in the filter gallery. The consultant will only have a limited time to asses the valves and actuator while the treatment plant is shut down. The consultant will also be required to give a formal assessment before the design work can start.
