Specifications include, but are not limited to: Typical construction inspection services may include but not be limited to: • Full time or part time inspection of SMUD contractor work for repairs, modifications, or new construction of high voltage electrical facilities (above and below ground), power generation facilities, occupied building facilities, and related project work to verify construction specifications are met and the materials and products provided are acceptable. • Enforce contractor safety compliance. • Provide construction activity monitoring and detailed reporting and tracking on a daily basis utilizing SMUD templates and procedures. • Provide project coordination while working closely with the SMUD CMI. • Ensure work in the field is performed in compliance with the contract documents and specifications and all applicable local, state, and federal laws, monitor work progress, and verify time worked, materials used, and material quantities. • Prepare and maintain job site records including recording construction as-builts according to SMUD standards, prepare progress reports, and keep a daily log according to SMUD standards. • Is a representative for SMUD’s CMI and informs the SMUD CMI on construction progress, design problems, construction issues and contractor disputes. • Provide inspection for work such as site development and improvement, earthwork, structural concrete, underground facilities, masonry, timer construction, structural steel, galvanizing, welding, electrical, plumbing, conduit systems, HVAC, painting, plastering, sealants, fire safety, fencing, landscaping, sheet metal, drywall, shoring, testing methods, hazardous waste operations, precast fabrication plant inspection, and labor compliance. • Review and monitor construction techniques for technical adequacy. • Attend progress meetings prior to and throughout the construction project. • Perform constructability reviews of design documents. • Maintain good relationships with SMUD staff, contractors, and outside agencies while representing SMUD’s interests. • Monitor compliance with all environmental requirements including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Programs (SWPP) and similar requirements. • Provide quality assurance of material used during construction to ensure materials meet the requirements of the contract documents which may include coordination and monitoring of testing and sampling of concrete, soils, asphalt, reinforcing steel, welds, etc. and includes collection of material documentation such as certificates of compliance, mill certifications. • CAUTION: The scope of this RFP will include work that is located near energized electrical equipment, bus, cables, ducts, and other electrical facilities. The Contractor and contractor personnel shall use extreme care while performing work in these areas. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to be fully aware of the proximity of the work to energized electrical facilities or other hazards.
