Specifications include, but are not limited to: For After School Education and Safety (ASES): Create incentives for establishing locally driven before- and after-school enrichment programs during school days and summer, intersession, or vacation days that partner public schools and communities to provide academic and literacy support and safe, constructive enrichment activities for students. (California Education Code (EC) 8482) For 21st CCLC, ASSETs: Assist students to meet state and local academic achievement standards in core academic subjects and/or pass the high school exit examination. (EC 8421, EC 8482, 20 United States Code (U.S.C) 7171[a][1-3]) For 21st CCLC, ASSETs: Provide students with enrichment activities to complement their regular academic programs. (EC 8482, 20 U.S.C. 7171[a] [1-3]) For 21st CCLC, ASSETs: Provide families of students with learning opportunities to improve their literacy and educational development. (20 U.S.C. 7171[a] [1-3]).
