Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Maximum tree trimming - crown reduction, pruning top/sides to lighten and balance, removing deadwood and crossed branches, raising to legal height. This pruning is to provide for the general health of the tree and for public safety as may be required by the Maintenance Supervisor or the authorized representative. However, at no time should reduction exceed 1/3 of the trees overall size unless specified by the Maintenance Supervisor. The finished trees shall have a symmetrical and aesthetic form with the weight evenly distributed. B. Low branches overhanging sidewalks and parkways shall be removed to a height of nine feet (9'). Low branches overhanging residential streets shall be removed to a height above the street grade of eleven feet (11') and a height of thirteen feet six inches (13' 6") on select streets. There is an exception for trees of fifteen (15) feet in height and under: These trees will be raised at the Maintenance Supervisor's discretion. C. Pruning shall include the removal of all dead, broken, diseased, insect-infested branches and stubs larger than one inch (1”) in diameter throughout the tree. D. Trim to shorten the length of limbs which extend beyond the natural perimeter of an otherwise symmetrical form.
