Specifications include, but are not limited to: • The Surveyor shall perform services in accordance with California Department of Transportation, Surveys Manual, Chapter 12. The Surveyor shall establish “control stakes” for basic line and grade for construction. The Construction Inspector shall check the work for contract compliance using the control stakes. The Surveyor shall use the tolerances established in the Caltrans Survey Manual. • Specific contract requirements regarding lines and grades, and construction stakes and marks, will be included in the various Contract Specifications. Additional contractual requirements may be shown on the plans or included in the special provisions for the work. • The City’s policy regarding City-furnished construction stakes is to provide the necessary control stakes to establish the lines and grades required for completion of the work. Working stakes used by the Contractor in actually performing the work are set by the Contractor’s Construction Surveying Consultant from City furnished control stakes.
