The City of San Mateo is issuing this RFQ for qualified firms to select one or more consultants to provide a variety of technical building support services on an as-needed basis. Given the volume of permit activity and development in the City of San Mateo, the Community Development Department may require additional professional expertise to maintain existing levels of service across several of its core functions. The City is interested in entering into a five (5) year on-call contract with the selected firm(s) to provide the listed services. Building Inspection Services Includes some (or all) of the following: • Perform inspection services for permitted building construction projects for the compliance of adopted building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, energy, and green building codes with San Mateo local amendments as well as the San Mateo Municipal Code; • Issue correction and stop work notices; • Make as-needed review for plans, and reports submitted for compliance with all code requirements; • Provide technical advice on building safety and code issues arising in the field during construction; • Support code enforcement officers on building code consultation on code cases and assist with the training of office personnel in various processes; • Prepare reports and correspondence pertaining to building code enforcement. Permit Technician Services Includes some (or all) of the following: • Perform technical support related to initial screening of building and planning permit applications; • Accept and screen building permit applications for completeness, conformance with building codes, ordinances and department standards, policies and guidelines; • Enter information into permit data system; • Issue building permits.
