The Department’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Program (NPA) encourages healthy living through varying programs and projects throughout the year. The California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Healthy Stores Refrigeration Grant Program supports corner stores and small businesses in low-income or low-access areas throughout the state to stock California-grown fresh produce, nuts and minimally processed foods through the funding of energy efficient refrigeration units.The Department seeks a vendor with demonstrated experience successfully acquiring required permits, and manufactured commercial energy efficient refrigeration unit for one small market in Pasadena. Vendors will remove any existing refrigeration unit in addition to installing new unit.Purpose:To procure refrigeration unit to improve access to healthy food choices in the small retail environment for underserved communities while promoting California-grown agriculture.
