Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor shall provide the following Passive Soil Vapor Sampling Materials and Sample Analysis Services:
4.1.1 Sorbent-Style Sampling Units (SSU)
Provide sorbent-style sampling units (SSU) capable of reporting soil vapor concentrations of volatile
organic compounds (VOCs). These sampling units are required to be capable of being buried one to five
feet below ground surface using hand and/or power tools; no vehicle-mounted drilling equipment will be
used.
4.1.2 Ship SSUs to ADEQ field personnel in Arizona via 2nd day shipping when an order is placed. CONTRACT
PRICING IS FOB DESTINATION FREIGHT WILL NOT BE PAID AS SEPARATE ITEM
4.1.3 Provide instructional documentation, including text and/or videos, on the handling, installation, and
recovery of the SSUs.
4.1.4 Sorbent-Style Sampling Unit (SSU) Analysis
Analyze SSUs for VOCs using analytical methods appropriate to the sampling media. The list of available
analytes will be similar to that reported for other VOC methods (i.e.: TO-15 or SM 8260). At a minimum,
analytes should include tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and associated daughter products.
4.1.5 Report
Report the results of analyses preformed on SSUs. Reporting will include, at a minimum, concentrations of
targeted VOCs in soil vapor. VOC concentrations will be reported in units of: a) parts per billion by volume
(ppbv) and/or b) micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3). Reporting should also include a standard Quality
Assurance/Quality Control report for sampling analysis. Reports with Data Tables to be provided in PDF
and EXCEL via email to ADEQ Project Manager or online access provided to ADEQ.
