Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Study all relevant proposed legislation during the legislative session to determine possible effect on interests of the College, in coordination with the Chancellor, Government Relations, and other College staff and departments as needed, and in alignment with the College’s strategic planning 2. Identify all priority bills aligned with the College’s interests and strategic planning and track the progress of all bills throughout the legislative session. 3. Contact members of the Arizona State Legislature and other appropriate agencies, organizations, and coalitions to ensure that the College’s interests are represented and to persuade them to support priority bills. Confer with members of the legislature to emphasize supposed weaknesses or merits of priority bills to influence passage, defeat, or amendment of measure, or introduction of legislation more favorable to the interests of the College. 4. Serve as the liaison between the College and the Arizona State Legislature, the Governor of the State of Arizona, and specified state agencies, including planning and coordinating meetings to discuss legislative issues and proposals and opportunities to be engaged in Capitol activities. 5. Contact individuals and groups with similar interests of the College in order to encourage them to contact legislators on priority bills.
