Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alaska Department of Health and Services, Division of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Verbal Deescalation program to be implemented in our system using a training-of-trainers method. This program will provide practical tools for staff to work with youth in community probation and secure detention and treatment programs. The program must provide tools for staff that facilitate de-escalation of conflict and potential violence, while also facilitating awareness of youth trauma, cultural competence, and behavior challenges. The Division seeks a provider to conduct a series of in-person, train-the-trainer workshops over the course of four years to develop a sufficient number of DJJ trainers on the verbal de-escalation method to provide training for the division throughout the state. The training will address de-escalation techniques, provide resources and tools, and ensure that trainers are proficient and ready to conduct training for agency staff. The program will have a clearly stated recertification process, and recertification of some trainers may occur during the contract period.
