Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking an engineering firm to provide all essential design services for various improvements within the Central Mat-Su Emergency Services Training Complex located at the intersection of Knik-Goose Bay Road and Vine Road. The location of a newly constructed Fire Station 6-2 at the intersection of Knik-Goose Bay Road and Vine Road, is also the location of the Central Mat-Su Fire Training Center. With the intent of developing additional training features, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking an engineering firm to provide all essential design services to construct a new paved road surface providing allowing for future access to several specialized training areas. Areas designated for specialized training include a vehicle extraction area, driving operator skills area, technical rescue area, haz-mat training area and a live fire prop exercise area. Included with the road design will be a new hydrant loop, a building pad, concrete footing/slab design, utility extension for installation of a pre-manufactured engineered live fire training module and specialized training areas. Although not an as-built representation, the MSB Central Mat-Su Fire Training Center Master Plan, dated July 26, 2016 referenced in these documents generally depict the location of the improvements to be designed through this RFP. In addition to the new road, several new driveway approaches shall be designed. The design process will generate a new survey of the area of the new road and a determine the best location for a pre-engineered, two-story, live fire training building identified as “The Hall Crawler” manufactured by Fire Facilities, Inc., or approved equal. The selected design team will design the building pad, foundation and slab for the new training module. Utility tie in and extension from the new facility to the location of the new training building shall also be a component of services requested in this RFP. Intent is to have design completed to allow for a 2020 spring construction bid award.
