Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alaska Army National Guard (AKARNG) is proposing to construct a two-story, companylevel Readiness Center (RC) on the western half of Camp Carroll, located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska, as well as an adjacent parking area in the northern portion of Camp Carroll, in order to support individual and collective training, administrative, and logistical requirements for AKARNG units. The RC will support approximately 12 full-time staff and 398 drilling Soldiers. The space will consist of an assembly hall, classrooms, administrative and office space, a learning center, a physical fitness facility, a kitchen, bathrooms, equipment and unit level storage, maintenance areas, a detached controlled waste handling facility, and a privately-owned vehicle parking area. The adjacent northern portion of Camp Carroll will be used for unit parking. The total RC area (not including parking) is estimated to be 80,501 square feet (SF). Supporting facilities include utility connections, pedestrian sidewalks, and a new access road connection with Stambone Road (see Figure 1). Currently, units assigned to Camp Carroll must share space in the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) on Camp Denali, also located on JBER. The space is significantly undersized and not conducive to mission readiness.
