Specifications include, but are not limited to: The exhibit plan will provide elements that: # Complement the award-winning exterior exhibit that chronicles the history of the Freedom Rides; # Fit within the existing 2,500 square foot of exhibit space; # Interpret the historic bus station from 1951 through 1968 when the terminal was integrated. This will includ e interpretation for the former “colored entrance” and c. 1968 integrated bathrooms ; # Interpret the history of segregated transportation, with emphasis on buses ; # Incorporate an existing kiosk where Freedom Riders and others can share or view short oral histories; # Integrate voices of Freedom Riders, Attorney Bruce Boynton , and other key figures of the Freedom Rides , including use of historic and contemporary media and media coverage ; # Include stories of other lesser -known but key groups such as the National Guard, bus drivers, bus station workers, local and state police, and mob participants ; # Interpret the historic landscape that provided the backdrop and context for the mob attack on May 20, 1961; and # include an exhibit plan for the interior space of a historic c. 1960 Greyhound Bus.
