The SCADA Replacement project is primarily focused on the SCADA “head end,” which includes software application and server equipment that operates the Human Machine Interface (HMI). This project is being developed in consideration of the Breaker Replacement Project, which is focused on the equipment and connectivity systems located in the substations that are rated 500kW (26 substations). There are several other substations that have PLC equipment and connectivity devices that are at the end of their useful life. The project includes scope for the SCADA “head end,” some specific aging equipment in the substations, and the communication devices connecting the substations to the head end. In all, 42 substations are included in the scope to be integrated into the new SCADA head end. This work will be required to meet King County IT network security requirements
