a. Examine individuals, providing mental health evaluations and examinations of competence per Criminal Procedure Law (CPL) Article 730; b. Review data about examined individuals; c. Prepare mental health evaluation reports for the referring party (e.g., courts, Probation, Pre-Trial Services, Parole) within timelines established by the referring party and/or MCOMH Socio-Legal Center standards; d. Advise the Director of Mental Health or their designee and staff about the psychiatric condition of the individuals, their needs for psychiatric treatment, and recommendations for treatment; e. Provide court testimony as necessary; f. Consult with individuals and agencies in the community about the need for psychiatric treatment of persons believed to be mentally ill and, when necessary, arrange for transport (per Mental Hygiene Law) of persons who may be in need of acute psychiatric care, to a suitable facility for further observation and evaluation for treatment; and g. Conduct screenings for Mental Health Court to determine clinical eligibility and specific recommendations; and h. In accordance with the Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Law, perform examinations, develop treatment plans, provide court testimony, and all other related duties on behalf of the County.
