Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The qualified independent contractor will remove and dispose of the current Commissary fire alarm panel. Replace with newer fire alarm panel that is consistent or equivalent with the existing fire alarm panels in the Administration Building, the Loco Shop, or the MOE Building. The new fire alarm panel shall meet the code requirements of NFPA, NEC, and local Seattle Fire Department stations. Remove and replace associated devices to maintain compatibility with new fire alarm panel. Perform final completion testing of fire alarm panel replacement per Seattle Fire Marshal requirements. All fire alarm systems must communicate through a digital phone line or approved alternative. Amtrak no longer supports analog phone lines. Contractor shall reuse existing wiring and conduit where applicable. Wiring shall not be looped through devices and must be cut at each device. All devices in the alarm system shall be compatible and installed per manufacturer’s specifications. B. The A/E shall perform a survey of the existing fire and life safety systems present in the Commissary Building “F”. The existing fire and life safety systems shall be thoroughly documented to produce “as-built” drawing sets for the fire suppression systems and fire alarm system. The “as-built” drawing shall also annotate supervisory devices and points of interconnection on both sets of drawings for coordination of the disciplines. The A/E shall provide professional, technical, and support services necessary to survey and perform site investigation and any additional survey necessary. As part of the survey assessment, the A/E shall identify all deficiencies in accordance with the installation, testing, and maintenance standards of NFPA, NEC, and the Seattle Fire Department. All deficiencies will be documented and provided to Amtrak Seattle IMCS/Engineering Department personnel for future mitigation on a separate scope, not to be included with this scope. The A/E may also identify potential improvements to be made to the existing system in accordance with the best practices of NFPA, NEC, and the Seattle Fire Department.
