Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife (MassWildlife) is soliciting bids from Contractors to mow/mulch firebreaks, remove hazard trees, and replace and improve a series of timber mat bridges at the Muddy Brook Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and the Muddy Brook Wildlife Conservation Easement (WCE) during Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24). The Muddy Brook WCE is co-managed by MassWildlife in cooperation with the New England Forestry Foundation. The principal objectives of this project are to maintain firebreaks associated with prescribed fire activities in the open canopy oak woodland communities to benefit native songbirds, game birds, and associated state-listed butterflies, moths, and plants; and to mitigate wildfire hazard associated with potential crown fire among standing trees and tall flammable shrubs.
