Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Athens-Clarke County Center for Racial Justice and Black Futures Board of Directors exists to illuminate the rich and diverse histories of African Americans in Athens, Georgia and surrounding communities, igniting a steadfast commitment to justice through dedicated truth-telling, and inspiring our youth to become architects of a fair and inclusive future. Audiences: • Youth of Athens-Clarke County, surrounding counties. statewide and nationally • Clarke County citizens, surrounding counties. statewide and nationally • Students, faculty, staff at UGA and other institutions of higher educations • Visitors to the Classic Center and Athens, GA Values : • Education • Inspiration • Fairness and Justice • Future Requirements Envisioned: • Center will be designed for touring space for 40 - 50 minutes. • Entrance will open into a space that is mesmerizing and fascinating. People should think “Wow I can’t believe this is in Athens” and “Awe inspiring”, Students will want to communicate about their experience and this space on social media. And, the space should be welcoming, with a designed format that help the exhibits create that feeling. • Small Book store area to sell books and other items. • Display areas that are interactive and interchangeable. • Interactive tables or stations • Showcase artifacts on walls throughout. • Donation walls(digital?) • TVs/projectors • Computers stations for research • Sounds that can be used in multiple ways and places. • Lighting that can be used in multiple ways and places. • Meeting space that is flexible to accommodate different groups size and activities. • Flexible movable seating for young and seniors • Moveable/ flexible walls • WIFI and internet connection throughout • Office space/ director/ part-time employee • Small lockers for volunteer storage items • Faucet/sink/small refrigerator • Conditioned storage room artifacts and barrowed exhibits
