Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work to be performed under this contract provides for demolition of Siah Armajani Lighthouse structure and Pedestrian Bridge in the Borough of Staten Island. The Lighthouse Structure and Pedestrian Bridge has been and will continue to be completely closed to public during construction. Close the pedestrian bridge and lighthouse structure to pedestrian traffic. Maintain the pedestrian and vehicle traffic under the pedestrian bridge. Maintain minimum of 5 feet wide sidewalk on the Ferry Terminal Viaduct. Install temporary concrete barrier and 10 feet high temporary chain-link fence underneath the bridge; and install temporary 6 feet high temporary chain-link fence on the Ferry Terminal Viaduct as shown on the contract drawings. Remove and preserve commemorative plaque, lighthouse lantern, and stained glass tiles from the lighthouse structure. Remove and discard lantern support frame from the lighthouse structure. Remove and discard lighthouse structure including timber planks, railing bars, enclosure plates, handrails, bracings, screen walls, and columns. Remove and dispose of pedestrian bridge superstructure (including top and bottom chords, bearings, timber planks, light fixtures, railings), substructure (piers) and footing as shown on the contract drawings. Construct fascia curb to match with existing fascia curb of inside face and top elevation. Replace chain link fence fabric, tension cable and connection items at the pedestrian bridge entrance from ferry terminal viaduct. Remove all temporary elements. Close excavated portion at pier 1 with structural fill material. Open pedestrian and vehicle traffic for public.
