Bids are requested for a one-year term contract with two, one-year renewal options for the “as needed” purchase of Original Equipment Manufacturer (O.E.M.) East Jordan and Mueller/Pratt gate, butterfly and wedge valves, as per the specifications contained herein. Due to current equipment and accessories utilized for similar services by the City, the units provided shall be no substitutes, to ensure cross-functionality and compatibility of equipment. The City intends to place orders on an “as needed” basis through the life of the contract.

This specification covers resilient wedge and tapping valves ductile iron, for use in the Water Distribution System in various sizes from four (4) inches through twelve (12) inches nominal diameter designed for direct bury and operated through a standard valve box. Gate valves, resilient wedge, and tapping valves shall be East Jordan or Mueller/Pratt. Valves are to be furnished in accordance with ANSI/AWWA/C500, ANSE/AWWA/C509, UL 262, or any latest revision and in accordance with the following Water System supplementary specifications.

All valves shall rotate clockwise to open, wrench/operating nut to be painted red, and be 1-15/16 inches square at the top, 2 inches square at the base and 1-3/4 inches high. The nut or cap screw for the wrench/operating nut shall be bronze or stainless steel and be bolted to stem.
