This project was previously advertised on February 4, 2020 as Flood Recovery - 2020 Paving Projects (20-LRRP-01). The design has been revised since that advertisment and the revised design is included in this IFB. The most notable design revisions are changes to the 4th Ave and Evans Street curve wall which has removed any in stream work.
This project will repair Lyons’ local roadways that were severely damaged due to both increased traffic volumes resulting from necessary traffic pattern changes that moved traffic off of the State Highways and onto local roads and heavy construction equipment in the early days of the flood recovery reconstruction process. These roadways were critical for emergency access, and were a part of the few open roadways that provided access to emergency recovery projects. Because the roadways were not designed to withstand the load of heavy equipment that was needed for recovery efforts and traffic that generally increased on these roadways at the same time, the local roadways were severely degraded and damaged.
The scope of work for this project includes construction of new curbs and gutters, storm drainage improvements, and asphalt repaving. Town roads will also be upgraded in conformance with Town and County standards, including making the roads wider, adding curbs and gutters, and adding a storm drainage system.
