The Office of Innovative Mobility (OIM) within the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is soliciting Request for Information (RFI) proposals from qualified parties with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) Technology.
A number of local governments have expressed interest in learning about types of driver assistance and automation technology available for transit busesd in order to enhance vehicle and road safety. The intent of this RFI is exploratory, issued for CDOT to collect information regarding ADAS technology that can be equipped for three of the Department’s Bustang vehicles. Bustang is an Interregional Express bus service, which connects commuters along Colorado’s I-25 Front Range and I-70 Mountain Corridors. ADAS technology including lane centering and keeping, obstacle detection, corrective steering, automatic emergency braking, collision avoidance, traffic signal recognition and other relevant features have the potential to improve safety on Bustang routes by assisting the drivers operating vehicles. This RFI seeks to gather information regarding the general experience of deploying these technologies, techniques for data generation, and related pricing structures. The information gathered for this RFI will help inform the State on how best to approach incorporating ADAS technologies for Bustang fleets to enhance vehicle systems and improve roadway safety.
