HSS-2024-01 - Installation of an automated pre-filtration strainer in the WTP

The Project includes upgrading the town’s pre-filtration strainer by installing an automatic backwashing 250-micron strainer by Bollfilter prior to membrane filtration. The Bollfilter Unit has already been purchased by the Town and will be onsite at construction. The existing 500-micron manual clean strainer will remain in place to serve as a backup to the Bollfilter, as well as provide system redundancy. The 250-micron Bollfilter will be automatically cleaned based on integral instrumentation and automated controls. The existing process piping of the WTP will need to be reconfigured which will require the WTP membrane filtration process to temporarily cease. The process piping will be installed, tested, and disinfected appropriately prior to resuming treatment operations. The town will ensure the existing clear well, and two finished water storage tanks are full prior to this component of construction. The town’s service area will also be notified of the implementation schedule and requested to reduce water consumption during this critical time to avoid shortages.

The specifications, plans, design details, drawings and Bollfilter Instructions are to be considered part of the Contract and the Contractor shall follow the specifications with due perseverance. The work contemplated by the specifications consists of the provisions of labor, material, equipment (with exception to the Bollfilter Unit) and services required for all work as described herein. Unless otherwise specified, the plans and specifications are intended to include everything obviously prerequisite and necessary for the proper installation and completion of the work whether each necessary item is mentioned herein or not.

The contractor being awarded the project shall act as the General Contractor and coordinate and contract with all required subcontractors such as for, but not limited to, electrical and/or controls etc. Brown’s Hill Engineering at 8119 Shaffer Pkwy # C, Littleton, CO 80127, 720-344-7771, will be used for electrical controls and SCADA. Contractor will coordinate with Plant Operator daily prior to any work being performed that day.
