Cheley Camp 2017 - Cheley Camp Restoration Project

The Cheley Camp project area is a private working ranch at the headwaters of the Fish Creek Watershed. Historically and prior to the 2013 flood, there was a highly functioning beaver population maintaining a successful system of beaver ponds, meadows and wildlife habitat.  This ranch was severely damaged in the flood of 2013 as water backed up behind a culvert and released with high energy scouring and incising the once small creek.  The damage seen at Cheley Camp was magnified and translated downstream damaging infrastructure, homes, riparian and upland habitat. By re-establishing beaver ponds, riparian wetlands and channel structure, the goal for this area is to ensure stability and curtail further damaging sediment input downstream.

Estes Valley Watershed Coalition desires to partner with a highly qualified consulting team that can clearly demonstrate experience and expertise to complete this type of work, has the ability to complete this type of work in a timely manner, and is committed to maximizing the utilization of the available funding to complete as much work as possible within budget constraints. Estes Valley Watershed Coalition is seeking a qualified, experienced, and capable team of civil and/or environmental engineers, hydrologists, ecologists, landscape architects, structural and/or hydraulic engineers, etc., in addition to contractors and supporting ancillary trades, to complete the design and construction of this project.  Selection of a team will be based on the criteria listed in Section 8 of this RFP.
