Colorado Mesa University is issuing this solicitation on behalf of CMU Tech. CMU Tech currently owns one mobile learning trailer for its Mechatronics Program and will use the proposed second mobile learning trailer as a dual-purpose training facility for welding and commercial driver’s license (CDL) training, as these were identified as skills most needed by employers in western Colorado. CMU Tech intends to equip the lab trailer with at least eight welding bays, associated metal working tools, and safety equipment needed, such as ventilation, to operate the lab trailer safely. When the lab trailer is not being used for welding training, CMU Tech will schedule CDL training for students in their electric line worker program and for employers needing to fill their positions requiring a CDL. This lab trailer will be available at community events, high schools, employers’ job sites, and the community at large. CMU Tech desires to enter into a contract awarded to the company offering the Best Value to the University. The Invitation for Bid form lists the minimum requirements and specifications for this acquisition.
