2023-IT-01 - Development of Citywide Broadband Master Plan

The City of Shafter seeks qualified bid candidates to complete the scope of work intended for a citywide Broadband Master Plan.  The City seeks to develop a Broadband Master Plan that will aid in expanding access to quality, high-speed networking capabilities to the residents and businesses within the community in the years and decades to come. The City has a unique opportunity to capitalize on its existing fiber network by expanding from a semi-private network supporting limited City buildings and systems to a more open network platform that can be leveraged for the economic and social benefit of the public. City officials hope that the development of this plan will provide more information around effectively utilizing public and private infrastructure, increasing coordination among City departments and external stakeholders that creates a transparent process to identify and prioritize opportunities to expand broadband access to underserved residents, and ultimately positioning the City to maximize the community benefits of future public-private provider agreements.
